Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve
Singapore’s first ASEAN Heritage Park, Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. The 87 ha wetland site was designated as a nature park in 1989 following a proposal put up by a group of avid birdwatchers from the then Malayan Nature Society (Singapore Branch). Originally a series of prawn ponds and fish farms, the area was redeveloped into a park for wildlife and today, it stands at 161 ha of mangroves and freshwater wetlands after 2 bouts of expansion.
